Efficacy of Nalbuphine in Preventing Haemodynamic Response to Laryngoscopy and Intubation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation is associated with haemodynamic response and a rise in plasma concentrations of catecholamine like noradrenaline, adrenaline and dopamine. The hemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and intubation was described in 1940 by Reid and Brace1. Rise in sympathetic hormones during intubation is associated with complications in high risk patients which can increase morbidity as well as mortality in some patients2-4. To ameliorate this pressor response, various drugs have been tried including morphine5, remifentanil6, alfentanil7, sufentanil8, fentanyl9, tramadol10, dexmedetomedinine11, sufentanil12, nalbuphine13,14, esmolol15, clonidine16 and lignocaine17.

Background and purpose: Ït has been found that the use of different drugs for laryngoscopy preparation and tracheal intubation results in controversy. The aim of this study is to compare the haemodynamic effects of remifentanil with fentanyl for tracheal intubation in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (ÇÂBG). Materials and methods: This is a randomized and double-blind st...
متن کاملGabapentin: a multimodal perioperative drug?
Gabapentin is a second generation anticonvulsant that is effective in the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain. It was not, until recently, thought to be useful in acute perioperative conditions. However, a growing body of evidence suggests that perioperative administration is efficacious for postoperative analgesia, preoperative anxiolysis, attenuation of the haemodynamic response to laryngos...
متن کاملA Comparative Clinical Study of Oral Clonidine versus Intravenous Clonidine for Attenuation of Haemodynamic Response to Endotracheal Intubation
Background And Objectives: Laryngoscopy with or without tracheal intubation amounts to a highly noxious stimulus to the homeostasis of the patient. Many a times under lighter planes of anaesthesia it elicits a defence mechanism in the form of haemodynamic response to stress, which involves activation of adrenocortical system. This study was conducted to compare the effects of oral Clonidine and...
متن کاملOral clonidine for attenuation of haemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation in known hypertensive patients.
BACKGROUND Sympathetic response associated with laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation is recognised as a potential cause for a number of complications especially in hypertensive patients. Various methods have been used to attenuate these haemodynamic responses; however most of the studies are in normotensive patients. The aim of our study was to compare the effect of oral clonidine and 1/V f...
متن کاملRole of intravenous esmolol, fentanyl and lignocaine for attenuation of stress response in tracheal intubation-a comparative study
Background Endotracheal intubation is an essential part of safe airway management but this stimulates the patient’s airway reflexes and predictably leads to haemodynamic derangement. Many drugs have been suggested in modifying in haemodynamic responses to laryngoscopy and intubation. Objectives To assess efficacy of three drugs esmolol, fentanyl and lignocaine and to assess which one is more ef...
